Katalana

(Visayan Dance)

This dance was probably brought here by the Spanish settlers from Catalonia, Spain, during the early part of the seventeenth century. This is a very gay and vivid dance which is popular in Iloilo.
COSTUME. Girl wears patadyong and kimona, Boy wears white trousers and barong tagalog.
MUSIC is divided into four parts: A, B, C, and D.
COUNT one, two, three to a measure.
FORMATION. Partners stand opposite each other about six feet apart. When facing auience, Girl is at Boy’s right side. One or more pairs may take part in this dance.
